2010-2011 - Chapter Accomplishments

What has your Chapter done lately?

  • Assisted in passing a bill requiring insurance companies to pay for developmental and obesity screening
  • Established the Childhood Obesity Prevention Team as an ad-hoc committee. Partnered with the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene on several obesity prevention projects including a survey of pediatricians and BMI data collection.
  • Partnered with the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to promote the use of the immunization network (ImmuNet).
  • Developed a task force on telephone triage and compensation
  • Introduced legislation for acquisition, distribution and reimbursement for immunizations
  • Provided training and support for the Reach and Out and Read Program in the state of Maryland
  • Organized focus groups throughout the state on the following topics: asthma, obesity, foster care, Medical Home and Children With Special Healthcare Needs
  • Conducted developmental screening trainings to pediatricians throughout the state
  • Actively participated with established coalitions to advocate for children’s health insurance programs
  • Produced quarterly e-newsletters
  • Revamped our chapter website
  • Became a part of the social media era with a Facebook page for our members and the community
