The MDAAP is the voice of children in the Maryland General Assembly. The MDAAP will keep you informed about legislation affecting your patients – and with your help, we can bring expertise needed to move legislation forward. In 2025, the MDAAP supported legislation regarding:

      • Abortion Care Clinical Services: Establishes grant program to improve access and service delivery.
      • Suicide Prevention: Expands classroom educational programs to increase awareness between gambling and youth suicide.
      • Immunizations: Requires health insurance carriers to cover vaccines listed on the immunization schedule.
      • Telehealth: Permanently authorizes audio-only telehealth.
      • Diabetes: Prohibits insurers from imposing a step therapy or fail-first protocol for insulin.
      • Newborn Home Visiting Services: Establishes workgroup to identify service gaps.
      • Social Media Use: Develops youth-centric technology and social media resource guide for public schools and parent teacher organizations.
      • Health Education: Requires development of age-appropriate comprehensive framework in schools.
      • Youth Transferring from Foster Placement: Establishes program to help foster youth access subsidies.
